Give it a go…
Join thousands of others this week and be a house to house collector for Christian Aid Week. Remember, all the money collected this week will be dedicated by Christian Aid to the Cookham-Kedida project, and so, for every £1 donated in the Red Envelope, the EU will add £3. Pick up a pack of envelopes from the back of the church and give it a go...
What's for lunch?
There's still time to come along to the Amnesty lunch today in the Parish Centre at 1230hrs. With a Laotian theme with food provided by the Old Bell in Wooburn Green, the lunch is in aid of Sing Chanthakoummane, a 75-year-old man who has been detained in Laos for 32 years. No charge for the meal but donations welcome.
‘Rejoice in the Lord!’
1830hrs Next Sunday 20 May, a thirty minute service of music and reflection for the Sunday after Ascension.
Being involved…
At the back of the church you will find a yellow questionnaire asking which areas in the life of our church you would particularly like to share. Please take one, fill it in, and give it to one of our wardens today.
Kedida koala
Look out for Joyce Banks outside the church this morning. She has a baby koala and it’s yours if you can guess its name, 50p a guess! All proceeds to the Cookham-Kedida project. (Thank you Joyce! Ken the Koala would be a good name…Ed)
Ascension Day – Thursday this week
Ascension Day is one of the major feast days of the Church. We have two Services that you can come to – 0730hrs at Holy Trinity and 2000hrs at St John the Baptist, Cookham Dean. If you can’t get to either of these, why not try a church near your place of work? Many town and city centre churches will be offering lunchtime Services on this day.
Clothes for Whitechapel Mission
Whitechapel Mission works with the poor and homeless in London. At the moment in their clothes store there’s a shortage of trainers (particularly sizes 7 - 9), jeans, men's boxer shorts and sleeping bags. And on the food front, porridge is needed. All other cereals are in plentiful supply but no porridge which has become very popular!
The next date for Holy Trinity people staffing the Whitechapel breakfast is Sunday 27 May.
HTC at Scout Fayre
Holy Trinity will have a stall at the Scout Fayre on 16 June. If you have any CDs, LP records, best-selling books (nearly new only) or children's books please either bring to church or leave in the Parish Office for Colin Jackson. All proceeds to the Cookham Kedida project.
Visiting Preacher
We are looking forward very much to welcoming Canon Robert Wright to the Cookhams next Sunday 20 May. Robert is Chaplain to the Speaker of the House of Commons, Vicar of St Margaret’s Westminster and Sub-Dean of Westminster Abbey. He will be preaching at the 0930hrs Parish Eucharist here at Holy Trinity and at 1830hrs Choral Evensong at St John the Baptist, Cookham Dean.
Thames Hospicecare Service
At 1830hrs this evening we are hosting a Service of Thanksgiving for the work of Thames Hospicecare. Everyone is very welcome to come along.
A special day for HTC
We will be celebrating our Patronal Festival on Trinity Sunday 3 June and we are delighted to let you know that Fr Ryan’s brother, Rod Green, will be preaching at our 0930hrs Parish Eucharist. Rod is in his final year of training for the priesthood at Wycliffe Hall in Oxford. We’ll be adding to our celebration with a shared lunch in the Parish Centre on that day. The lunch is for everyone of any age, games for children, so please come and join in. In the evening we will have Solemn High Mass sung to the setting Darke in F at which Fr Anthony will be the principle celebrant. Our visiting preacher at this Mervice will be Fr Philip Warner who is the Vicar of St Magnus the Martyr Church in the City of London.
Parish Magazines
We’re needing some volunteers to help in delivering an extra 50 magazines in the parish. Could you help? Please call Graham Soal 01628 627076 or the Parish Office 529661.

Footprints in the sand
